About Del Cerro

Del Cerro is an affluent neighborhood in the eastern region of San Diego, California. Residents are close to parks, schools, stores, restaurants, services, and recreation.

Del Cerro means “of the hill” is Spanish and has a little over 2,000 residents. It is bordered by Grantville, La Mesa, Allied Gardens, San Carlos, and College Area. And it adjacent to San Diego State University and a local lake. This is a family friendly community and each year a Block Party is held for the children with entertainment, food, and live bands. The private Del Cerro Park and Pool also has a party for the Fourth of July.

The San Diego Unified School District is the second largest in the state. Students attend highly ranked facilities like Hearst Elementary School, Lewis Middle School, and Patrick Henry High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.

There is a commercial area along Del Cerro Boulevard with a Chevron station, deli stores, liquor stores, fitness spa, Windmill Farms, and several professional services. Del Cerro also includes part of the Mission Trails Regional Park which offers over 5,000 acres of preserved land and Lake Murray which is popular for fishing and boating. There are several golfing venues in this region like the Colina Park Golf Course and the Admiral Baker Golf Course.

San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities. This city is known for the San Diego Zoo as well as museums like the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
